You may have noticed a change of scenery on our site lately. We’ve been shooting commercial and editorial work for quite a while now and could never really decide where to showcase it on our site. We decided to create a new brand called Hales Photo for all of our work that’s not wedding related and we made another website to give it a home. Please go check out what we have been up to in the non-wedding world. You can link over here: www.hales.photo
When we first met with Clare and Alex via FaceTime almost a year ago we knew they were going to be just the kind of couple we love to work with. They described their wedding as inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Their vision became a reality at the end of April and all of the details they carefully selected came together beautifully. They got ready at Clare’s childhood home then headed off to Sacred Heart Basilica for their first ceremony of the day. After, they rode in style in a vintage car to a friend’s estate home for a jewish ceremony followed by cocktails in the garden and dinner under a canopy of string lights. Clare and Alex, thank you for choosing JHP to celebrate and photograph your day. We hope you enjoy the images we created together!
when we started talking to alexis & drew it did not take long to know they were our kind of couple. they wanted to have a fun relaxed wedding day and photography was very important to them. they were willing to spend the time and worked with us to develop a wedding day timeline to shoot in ideal conditions. when we started researching their venue, the cliffs at glassy chapel we soon realized this would be an iconic day.
the day started beautifully with a partially cloudy sky, my favorite for shooting outside, and just about the time we starting doing portraits of alexis & drew some ominous clouds started rolling in. the wind was crazy and rain impending. at first i was a little bummed that we would not have any blue sky for their portraits, but that bummed feeling went away as soon as i looked at the back of my camera. these moody thick gray clouds, the rolling hills of the blue ridge mountains and this amazing couple on top of glassy mountain all added up to a perfect recipe for some of our most dramatic wedding photos ever.
thank you alexis & drew for staying out with rain threatening, thank you for trekking down the side of the mountain, thank you for standing on the side of a cliff, and thank you most of all for making our job so fun and very rewarding.
if you are planning your wedding for the cliffs at glassy chapel, we would love to chat with you about your wedding photography. we would be happy to pack our cameras and travel to this beautiful destination to be your wedding photographers.

I guess the very end of March seems like a perfect time to post a “best of” blog all the way from last year. They say better late than never so let’s just go with that.
In 2015 we worked with some amazing couples, vendors and venues and we are so thankful to each and every bride and groom who chose us to be their wedding photographers. Every year we aim to step up our wedding photography game from the year before. We think working with awesome couples and some of the top vendors in the industry helped us do just that! We are looking forward to what the 2016 wedding season will bring.
Although we couldn’t include them all, here are some of our very favorite images from the couple’s portrait sessions of all the weddings we shot in 2015.
p.s. more of our favorites in blogs to come!
